A Second Chance

Remember, The cold of night
Now dead in our hearts, Pyres
of the sun That blazed our
paths. Look, To the bridges we
built now lying in dust, The
masks that we wore Flaking
like rust. Feel, The singing
wind To which the leaves dance, Erasing our footsteps
Giving us a second chance.

All our endeavours are now ended, The
spark of our drive now rotten. So many
that walked beside us Left on the
sidewalks now forgotten.

These golden words on the stone I inscribe
Remember the past and look to the future,
But always feel the present, Because on the
ever-shifting sands of time like an unforeseen
gust of wind A second chance may chime.
